The Women of Oaxaca January 13–17, 2027

See a place through its women.

The Women Of is a new travel series from Sistra × RoamCircle, bringing together a small group of women to experience a destination through the women who shape it.

Our first chapter takes us to Oaxaca for five days of food, art, culture, storytelling and connection. We’ll meet local women entrepreneurs, artists and makers, hear their stories, experience their work firsthand and intentionally support women-led businesses along the way.

Through experiences with Fundación En Vía, we’ll connect with women entrepreneurs in local communities and learn how responsible tourism and microfinance are creating sustainable economic opportunities — alongside hands-on cultural experiences rooted in Oaxacan traditions.

Sistra is a global platform discovering and amplifying women-led businesses, creative projects and stories around the world. Together, we’re bringing that network to life through travel creating meaningful exchange between the women who visit a place and the women who call it home..

the Experience

MEET HER

YOUR CIRCLE

YOUR CIRCLE

Oaxaca's chefs, artisans, makers and entrepreneurs, in their own kitchens, studios and communities. Hear the stories behind the work, learn the traditions it carries, and spend your pesos where they matter: directly with the women who made it.

YOUR CIRCLE

YOUR CIRCLE

Travel with a small group of curious women: founders, creatives and professionals who'd rather meet the maker than buy the souvenir. Swap stories over mezcal, wander together, and leave with women in your corner, near and far.

YOUR CIRCLE

SLOW DOWN

Late breakfasts, long afternoons, mezcal at golden hour and nights out in the city. Enough planned to make it special, with plenty of freedom to wander, rest or discover Oaxaca your own way.

Yes. Most women will be traveling solo, and the group is small by design. You'll arrive knowing no one and leave with women in your corner.

Oaxaca City is a popular, welcoming destination for women traveling on their own. On this trip, you won't really be alone: you'll stay in a private villa with the group, travel together to scheduled experiences with arranged transportation, and have your hosts with you throughout. During free time, we'll share local guidance on where to go and how to get around, and the usual travel precautions apply, just as in any city. We also recommend checking your government's latest travel advice for Mexico before you book.

Fly into Oaxaca International Airport (OAX). RoamCircle is also a full-service travel agency, so we're happy to help you find and book flights. Airport transfers aren't included, but we'll share the easiest options once you book

Fundación En Vía is a Oaxaca-based organization working alongside women entrepreneurs in communities in the Tlacolula Valley through microfinance, business education and responsible tourism. Its experiences are developed together with the women in its programs, so you'll meet them in their own communities, hear their stories and see their businesses firsthand.

Sistra is a global platform discovering and amplifying women-led businesses, artists, entrepreneurs and creative projects around the world, and sharing the stories behind them. Through The Women Of, Sistra brings that network to life through travel, introducing you to the women it has found and celebrated.

That's completely fine. Your time is yours. Join the group, work from the villa, take a nap, explore, read by the pool or sit something out.

All travelers must be 18 or older. Beyond that, The Women Of is less about age and more about curiosity. It's for women who want to understand the places they visit, meet the women who shape them, and connect with other women from different backgrounds and stages of life.
